I got the neatest idea from Bakerella: http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2008/04/make-your-cupcakes-pop.html
Cupcake Pops! With the 4th coming up, we decided to get a little patriotic and make some red, white and blue. We used a cherry cake mix and the regular cream cheese frosting Bakerella suggests. I want to try an all chocolate one or an all lemon one one of these days… ya know, lemon frosting with the lemon cake, might give it more of a kick!
We shopped today, the girls helped pick out what we needed for it all… the cookie cutters, the sticks, and all of the ingredients. They had a lot of fun looking through all of the neat cake-making goodies.
I shaped the little cupcakes… it’s a LOT harder than it looks but SO much fun and oh so messy… and I dipped the bottoms in the red candy melts. The girls did the white tops and Maddie added the blue M&Ms. After a few dried, the girls got to enjoy their hard work.
They are messy and don’t look exactly like Bakerella’s, but they were sooooo much fun for everyone

I’m still shocked at the news. I was looking forward to seeing what kind of things his comeback would bring. I was hugely disappointed at the controversies that surrounded him in life. He was truly talented. His music and his dancing were both incredible and iconic. To watch him was (and still is, in downloaded video clips) mesmerizing.
His death is a tragic, tragic loss. But he is no longer in pain. His battle is over.
May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in their time of need.

Yesterday, I took the girls to Antelope Island and they got to play in the Great Salt Lake. The older two loved it. Maddie cried the entire time, she didn’t know what to think of the sand. The baby even got his little toes dipped in and seemed to enjoy it. I got some pictures with my cell, I will post them on Facebook when I get a chance.
Today… a whole new adventure begins.

This morning, we got up, got dressed, and headed over to the house where the wedding was being held. Thankfully, the girls were VERY well behaved I’m very proud!! The bride was frazzled enough without having to worry about little ones getting into things and breaking things and doing what little kids do. I helped put together plates of food and set up and decorate tables, chairs, and the backyard. The “theme” I guess, was “Eat, drink and be married” so we ate and drank first and then she got married. The wedding was absolutely beautiful. It rained pretty hard pretty much all day and the ceremony was outside. Thankfully, the rain paused long enough for the ceremony to finish!
After the ceremony I headed out with the kiddos to Utah county. I called Susan (Kenn’s mom, Katie and Natalie’s grandmother) as I hit Lehi and got the green light to come on over for a visit. The visit went very well. Kenn’s little sister Sarah was there with her boyfriend also. Katie and Natalie were SO happy to see their grandmother and aunt! They played some Wii, some Candyland, and some Cooties. We got to see her new strawberry box she just built and her garden she is very proud of. I was surprised too, to see that she STILL has her LeBaron!! This is a white convertible she has had since she bought it brand new. I believe it’s a ‘95 or so. She takes amazing care of this car and even keeps it under a cover in the garage when she isn’t driving it.
After that, we headed out to Provo to visit my old friend Missy. We had a nice short visit. I haven’t seen her youngest daughter since she was born 5 years ago. The girls went and played with Ashlynn while Missy and AJ and I sat in the front room and caught up.
And finally after that, we headed back to North Salt Lake where we’re staying. On the way, we took a detour and drove through downtown to gawk at all the big buildings like the fabulous tourists we are. I’m still pretty shocked that the Delta Center is no longer the Delta Center!! It’s now the Energy Solutions Arena, I think. What kind of a name is Energy Solutions Arena??! It sounds SO commercial. The Delta Center has been around as long as I can remember, WHY would anyone want to change that?? I don’t get it…
Utah has changed and is changing SO much it’s unreal. I miss it but I don’t.
Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be able to get a hold of some family and make some visits. I may take off fairly early tomorrow. I have a move to get through with!

This afternoon, I arrived in Salt Lake. It’s a very different feeling to be back here. Different in a good way, for the most part. A lot of it is very familiar, but they’ve changed SO much in such a short period of time. I am very happy to report the construction on the freeway through Ogden is gone! It’s no longer a scary drive to get to Salt Lake!
Tomorrow morning, someone I know who has been very against marriage the entire time I’ve known her is going against everything she has ranted and raved about and tying the knot! I feel very lucky I get to be here for it. I really wish I brought my camera!!
Tomorrow afternoon I plan to go visit some of my family and a couple of old friends, it’ll be nice to see these people again. It’s been a nice, quiet, relaxing week… to say the least. Over the next couple of weeks, I will be getting ready to move! I’m excited to be making this transition. It will be really good for me AND the kids.

Little man is 4 months old! New pics are on Facebook, I’ll Flickr some when I can so I can blog them. He weighed in at 13lbs 4oz, measured 24 inches long today. Big boy! My sweet little guy got 3 shots and he has thrush and some pretty bad eczema. He did pretty good with the shots, cried some then was okay when I held him when they were done and passed out in the carseat before I even made it back out to the car and he’s been sleeping most of the day. He has whimpered here and there and doesn’t really wanna be handled much or messed with much, but overall he’s actually doing pretty great.
He isn’t rolling over yet or laughing, but he does give these incredible smiles that melt anyone and everyone and he talks! He has his own little baby babble. He coos and makes a ton of adorable little noises, we have these conversations it’s so cool! He’s just the sweetest little guy!!

Last night, I was bound and determined to find a job right NOW. I’ve only been looking since Sean William was born! I’ve got daycare set up and ready to go for when I start school, but I have to be working at least 15 hours a month on top of the 11 credits I’m taking. Daycare help doesn’t kick in until I start working. My hard work last night paid off - this morning I woke up to a phone call, I was set up for an interview this afternoon! A couple hours later, another phone call for another interview an hour earlier than the first one! I got BOTH jobs! An hour ago, I got a third phone call and had to turn them down. I’m SO relieved! Time to celebrate!

I got all registered for summer school today. I didn’t quite make it to 12 credits, I could only hit 11 but that’s still a pretty good size load for a summer semester. Only two of my classes are actually in class, I have 3 online. I’m taking my math again at the recommendation of my instructor. Now that I have daycare all set up and ready to go, I should have no problems actually making it to class. I’m also taking nutrition, intro to nursing, medical terminology, and computer literacy. Comp lit seems kind of redundant for me and probably will be, but it’s 2 credits and some of the other classes I have to take will require it for some reason or another so I might as well knock it out this summer.
I don’t think I’ll be doing another summer semester unless I need to retake a class somewhere along the lines or need a boost somewhere. Finding classes to take wasn’t as easy as I’d hoped it’d be. It’s funny… in the movie Accepted, this girl wants to be a photographer and she talks about how frustrating the curriculum and really the whole registering for classes in college experience can be… “Well, see, there’s this, um, photojournalism class, but they said it’s only for journalism majors. And then there’s this art photography class, but they said it’s for fine arts majors. So my advisor said it would be best not to take either one, or something, because certain photography classes don’t apply to a degree in photography.”
I actually looked up both classes at my school and sure enough, she wasn’t lying! It really is like that! And in the summer, finding classes that pertain to your major is a lot harder. What’s funny and really kinda crappy too is that the financial aid chunk you get in the summer is less than what you get for a regular semester, but tuition is more… someone ’splain this one to me please?
